our grading system
We graded the Pews based on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being the highest level Possible.
Grade 10/10
This is the highest grade possible for used furniture and a used pew. The Pew will not need any staining or any padding added or even cleaning. The use over the last years of service has been minimal due to its location.
Grade 8/10
At this grade the pews are in great working order and have small blemishjes that can be buffed out with Thimpsons oil, or other solvents. There is minimal need to do any work except bolt to your favorite location.
Grade 7/10
These pews need some minor work, and filler in some spots, very minimal and they are in great shape for immediate use. Minor work like re-oiling or refinishiing might be needed.
Grade 6/10 as seen in the image to the left.
These Pews need TLC from a woodworker that can sand and refinish parts of the bench. Mostly in good working order with need of minor work to be in a 10/10. Structurally sound and useable. These pews are in the Child Cry room, and have been enjoyed by children playing and drawing on the surface and probably knawging and biting the wood while teething. Who knows what else these kids have done while their parents pray for patience etc.
Grade 5/10 and lower
We recognize that the Pew is in need of repair and lacking in beauty when it comes to presentation. The Structure is sound for all these pews and they can be used but they do need some attention to detail and repairs along with Varnish.
Anything below a 5 has not been listed and will be used as wood for projects other than seating. Unless requested.
